About artwork
In this work, I focus on the simple act of a painting stroke. By illuminating the stroke with a spotlight and casting a shadow behind it, I emphasize both its material presence and the physical gesture that created it.
My interest in this subject began when I noticed an accidental mark on a paint palette. The stroke had not been made intentionally, yet it possessed a striking beauty. That discovery led me to think about how beauty can emerge beyond conscious control.
Since then, I have explored ways to isolate and reveal the essence of a single stroke. Through light, shadow, and scale, I invite viewers to consider the movement, chance, and physical action embedded within what might otherwise appear to be a simple mark.
